Early Intervention Childhood Supports

All children, no matter what their abilities, have a greater chance of reaching their cognitive potential via early intervention supports. Let us help you reach yours. We also have specialist services designed for children 0-7 years old.

Occupational Therapist

Occupational therapists are experts in various fields, such as home modifications , rehabilitation, mental health, pain management and mobility. They can assist in identifying goals and passions, managing daily routines at home and in the community, modifying daily chores to make them easier to do and recommending tasks in which participants can effectively engage.

Occupational therapists work with participants of different ages to offer them a variety of care and support like:

  • Home modifications
  • Personal life planning
  • Coordinating respite care
  • Orientation and mobility training
  • Assistive technology (aids and equipment)
  • Vehicle modifications and driving assessments
  • Evaluation of personal support needs (personal care)
  • Supported employment evaluation and training services

Psychologist

A psychologist gives the support that participants and their families need when dealing with difficulties. They can offer advice and interventions to participants in order to help them deal with hardships better. They won’t dictate how participants should deal with problems, but would provide guidance and assistance to acknowledge, accept, and work through their behaviours or problematic emotions.

A psychologist’s goal is to help their participants make choices in their own lives by teaching them how to minimise or remove behaviours and habits that are unhelpful or detrimental to their well-being.

Speech Pathologist

Speech pathologists are university-trained allied health professionals who assist participants who can’t speak effectively to improve their communication skills. They work with both children and adults. Speech therapists commonly assist with correct voice use, sound production, fluency, talking and language impairments.

While speech therapists help participants with communication, they also increase their receptive and expressive language skills so they can understand other people better. They do this by assisting them in learning how to say what they want in ways others will comprehend more efficiently, as well as having the ability to transfer thoughts into actions effectively without frustration or confusion.

Behaviour support practitioners are highly skilled allied health professionals who support individuals with complex needs across various services.

  • Mental health
  • Personality disorders
  • Developmental conditions
  • People with substance use histories
  • Intellectual disabilities and cognitive impairments
  • Self-harm or risk taking behaviours
  • Dual diagnosis: co−occurring mental health and disability
